Here are just some of the few S&S books coming out soon that I cannot wait to get my hands on!
Drink Slay Love by Sarah Beth Durst
What happens when a vampire is stabbed through the heart by a were-unicorn? She suddenly develops a very inconvenient conscience. Oops.
Expected Publication Date: September 13th 2011 by Margaret K. McElderry
Why I Want to Read It: BEST. SUMMARY. EVER. I’m not a fan of vampires, but seriously, this sounds too funny to pass. I also love the title!
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.
Expected Publication Date: September 27th 2011 by Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing
Why I Want to Read It: There is absolutely SO MUCH hype for this book and I really want to know what the fuss is about! Also, that cover is gorgeous.
Wildefire by Karsten Knight
Every flame begins with a spark.
Ashline Wilde is having a rough sophomore year. She’s struggling to find her place as the only Polynesian girl in school, her boyfriend just cheated on her, and now her runaway sister, Eve, has decided to barge back into her life. When Eve’s violent behavior escalates and she does the unthinkable, Ash transfers to a remote private school nestled in California’s redwoods, hoping to put the tragedy behind her. But her fresh start at Blackwood Academy doesn’t go as planned. Just as Ash is beginning to enjoy the perks of her new school—being captain of the tennis team, a steamy romance with a hot, local park ranger—Ash discovers that a group of gods and goddesses have mysteriously enrolled at Blackwood…and she’s one of them. To make matters worse, Eve has resurfaced to haunt Ash, and she’s got some strange abilities of her own. With a war between the gods looming over campus, Ash must master the new fire smoldering within before she clashes with her sister one more time… And when warm and cold fronts collide, there’s guaranteed to be a storm.
Expected Publication Date: July 26th 2011 by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
Why I Want to Read It: I was hooked with Polynesian, (diversity ftw!) then I read the rest of the summary. I love the sound of gods and goddesses in a private school!
Are there any other Simon & Schuster titles that I should keep my eye out for? Let me know in the comments.
I’m actually reading Wildefire right now, thanks to Simon and Schuster’s wonderful galley grab and I am enjoying the book very much. Polynesian was also what quickly got my attention, it nice and refreshing and I am enjoying the diverse characters in this book.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is also on my TBR ^_^ but I think I love the cover more than anything lol.
Drink Slay Love is not one I’ve heard before, not sure if I’ll pick it up but if you do and end up giving it a positive review I might have to try it :-)
