Top of the Shelf #12

… Haven’t posted one of these in a while. School has been keeping me quite busy with readings, but I am making time this weekend to read books that I want to read. I’ve been accumulating quite a number of books over these past few weeks so I actually have something decent to post this week.

A weekly meme on the books on the top of my list to read and books recently acquired, borrowed, or bought. Inspired by the Story Siren’s In My Mailbox.

Top of the Shelf / Currently Reading
What’s next on my to-read list for the upcoming week. I gave up on categories while school is in session. I’ll bring them back during my break.

Bought
I made my first ever trip to Strand last weekend when my best friend visited! It was quite the experience and I could not walk out of the store without making at least one purchase. I ended up buying East by Edith Pattou – which was actually recommended by a woman who came up to me, put it in my hands, and said that I would love it! – and a really cool vintage copy of Great Expectations.

Received
My friend Anne went to ComicCon a few weeks ago and got me some cool stuff! Some ARCs, a cute little laminated drawing of Draco, and best of all, an autograph from one of my favorite authors Diana Gabaldon wishing me a happy birthday. :)

Finally, I also won a poster from the amazing Angie Frazier, author of Everlasting. I’ve already put it up on my dorm room, and I have to say it was exactly what I needed in terms of wall decor!!! Love it!

  1. I loved, loved, LOVED, loved East! It was such a wonderful read, and a beautifully written book! And congrats on the autograph from Diana. I got the Exile when it released but haven’t read it yet. I really wanted to see her at NYCC but she was signing on a Friday during work hours. I still have a chapter sampler signed from her from last year’s BEA though, which is enough for me now. I love those Outlander books! Oh and speaking of author signings, the creators of the Phantom Tollbooth are going to be at BOW today at 1. I saw your comment about THE HELP signing the other day on my blog, so I thought I’d pass the info along. Ok, I’ll stop rambling here in your comment box. Happy, happy reading!

  2. I love seeing people’s choices! You have some great reads here!!! I currently have GIrl, Stolen – Confessions of the Sullivan Sisters & Wildthorn that I can’t wait to dive into.

I’m a new follower and I love that your site is titled Muggle-Born! I hope you’re as EXCITED as I am for the release date next month!!!
