The Strand vs. Amazon: Indie Bargains

If there’s one indie bookshop in NYC that can beat Amazon’s prices for a lot of YA titles, it’s the Strand. Boasting 18 miles of books, it’s one of my favorite places to shop for a new read. The actual store can be a little overwhelming, so the Strand’s website is pretty handy when one wants to know if a particular book is in stock.

Okay, the downside of the Strand is that they don’t carry EVERY POSSIBLE title out there in the universe. But they still carry loads of really great titles for a cheaper price than Amazon. You don’t believe me? Check out the list below!

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Strand. I won’t get a commission from any clicks or purchases below. I just really want to share with you guys how awesome this bookstore is. Support indie, not Amazon. :P

All of these titles are $9 or below. I’ve checked them myself against Amazon and these are all cheaper at the Strand!

A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford
After Obsession by Carrie Jones
As I Wake by Elizabeth Scott
Ashes by Ilsa J Bick
Bad Taste in Boys by Carrie Harris
Blood Red Road by Moira Young
Chime by Franny Billingsley
Clarity by Kim Harrington
Die for Me by Amy Plum
The Eternal Sea by Angie Frazier
The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton
The Fox Inheritance by Mary Pearson
Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan
Supernaturally by Kiersten White
This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel
Tighter by Adele Griffin
Wither by Lauren Destefano

Hope you guys make a trip to the Strand if you end up going to BEA ’12. You’ll probably see me stalking the shelves.

  1. I guess I’m a lucky one as Strand is just around the corner from my office :) I looooove it! I could spend hours there. I think I have spent hours there.

[by just around the corner I mean, two subway stops away]

  2. I wish I lived in NYC! I got to go to The Strand last time I was there and let’s just say I made out like a bandit! I bought sooo many cheap books. As much as my suitcase could carry back home to Canada.

    1. The Strand has a great site where you can always buy online. I’m not sure if they ship to Canada, but it’s definitely worth checking out if they do. The prices online is the same as in-store!
