Book Summary: Lily Sanderson has a secret, and it’s not that she has a huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Unrequited love is hard enough when you’re a normal teenage girl, but when you’re half human, half mermaid like Lily, there’s no such thing as a simple crush.

Lily’s mermaid identity is a secret that can’t get out, since she’s not just any mermaid – she’s a Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she finally realized why she didn’t feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she’s been living on land and going to Seaview high school ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its problems – like her obnoxious, biker boy neighbor Quince Fletcher – but it has that one major perk – Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren’t really the casual dating type – when they “bond,” it’s for life.

When Lily’s attempt to win Brody’s love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she is in for a tidal wave of relationship drama, and she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily-ever-after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.

When I read the first page of FORGIVE MY FINS by Tera Lynn Childs, I had an awful feeling that I was not going to like the book. I thought that the book would be a corny, stereotypical high school drama that revolved after chasing after that boy. With a mermaid twist, of course! I was wrong, but not entirely so. At first I didn’t want to like FORGIVE MY FINS by Tera Lynn Childs, but I was so hooked. I read it almost all in one go, stopping only for dinner. I found myself grinning ridiculously throughout the whole book.

FORGIVE MY FINS by Tera Lynn Childs is corny and sickeningly sweet, but that is what I love most about it. Childs is an amazing romance author. Quince and Lily have a fantastic chemistry together. They make me want to tear out my hair. They make me cringe with their adorable banter. Quince ranks high on my list of leading males, comparable to Sam from Shiver and Patch from Hush, Hush. Who doesn’t love a guy on a motorcycle?

Plotwise, there were not too many surprises along the way. But I just had so much fun reading how the story unfolded that I did not care that I knew how the end would turn out. FORGIVE MY FINS by Tera Lynn Childs is a fun and exciting read. There was definitely never a dull moment.

From a fantasy perspective, FORGIVE MY FINS by Tera Lynn Childs gives an amazing view of what it could be possibly like to live as a mermaid. Childs creates a beautiful underwater world and a funny and believable ocean slang. Reading about the ocean makes me want to head towards the beach.

Overall, I have to admit that I enjoyed this book immensely. Usually, Lily is the kind of character that would annoy me, but Tera Lynn Childs just makes that impossible. FORGIVE MY FINS by Tera Lynn Childs left me with a warm fuzzy feeling once I finished. It was a great way to end my week and relieve myself of stress. Before I even finished, I already recommended it to my sister. I told her that she had to read it. Even if you aren’t a fantasy lover, you’d want to pick this up just for the romance. It’s adorable.
