Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?
- Strong female leads
- Fantastic world building that is a little (or a lot) of the ordinary
- Fast-paced plot that will keep you turning the page and at the edge of your seat
- A relatable narrator
Of course, there are always exceptions, but these are just some elements that immediately make me think: I’m going to enjoy this book a lot!
Q: Book Appeal: When you’re browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger’s reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?
It depends on the genre.
If it’s contemporary, right now I am most likely to pick it up if it looks really cute or super sweet. I just want a lot more sweet and fun contemporaries and the ones with eye-catching covers, whether it be at the store or on Goodreads or on a meme, are the ones that currently catch my eye.
If it’s anything else, I know that I usually shy away from anything that gives too much of a paranormal vibe.
If it isn’t something that I’m willing to pick up at the moment (right now it is paranormal and dystopia), then it would have to be a well-written review by a fellow blogger that will convince me, or a raving review from a blogger I already trust.
I love a nice story line, some romance and characters that grow

I absolutely agree about the FF question. I forgot to mention the fast pacing. Damn. XD
Same with the contemporaries! And, hah, I’m a big paranormal reader, but I usually shy away from most PNR novels, too. Especially lately. SO many books, so little time, so much bullshit. *sigh*
Yeppers! Nice concise list, actually. I agree with all of it. I’m following via Goodreads, FB & Twitter – my FF: http://www.burgandyice.blogspot.com/2012/02/rebel-wife-by-taylor-m-polites.html
I’m loving the cute and sweet contemporary books coming out. I really need more time to read. I’m tending to drift away from dystopian books lately too, even though I need to read The Hunger Games before the movie comes out.
Oh geez, I still can’t believe that you haven’t read HG yet.
I agree a sweet story with a eye catching cover is really great!
