… Things I want at the moment but I can’t (for one reason or another…) have.
1. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
I have to admit that my fervor for the Hunger Games has died down a bit for the last couple of weeks. Thank God, because it really is agonizing waiting for the release of the third book in the Hunger Games trilogy. I got sucked into the Hunger Games through internship of course, so I blame Scholastic entirely for this obsession. (Scholastic seems to fuel all of my literary obsessions….) The second in the trilogy ended with such a big cliffhanger; I really can’t wait to see how the rest of the epic story folds out. Peeta for the win!
2. Lush
I’m in love with Lush Cosmetics because not only are they organic, but it smells delicious. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a pot of Smitten hand cream. I have used the Handy Gurugu this past winter season, but I’m getting really tired of the floral smell. I love the slight almond scent of Smitten. I’ve also wanted to get a new body lotion from Lush. I’m kind of eying the Charity Pot that my mom has. I love how all the proceeds goes to a specific charity. I’m itching to go spend a ton of money on hand cream, lotion, bath bombs, soap, etc. Really tempting.
3. Chicken & waffles
This is one of the food items that I crave every now and then… As satisfying as it is to have it at home, I have yet to actually go to a restaurant that serves this. Nothing can quite top my experience in Oakland, California…. I’ve done my research: I know that Grand Luxe Cafe serves them on weekends and that there are a bunch of really good places in Harlem, but I have yet to venture out and actually get my hands on this meal. I absolutely love the combination of the two. Don’t say that you don’t like it until you’ve tried it… I got my cousin to enjoy his first chicken and waffles. He went back to Oakland to have them again. Lucky!
Cravings aside, life has finally died down after a week of absolute hell. I was literally slammed down with so many projects, papers, and exams all in one week. It came to the point that I had four assessments in one day. Needless to say, it was quite stressful, but lucky me I survived! I managed to scrape by without too much damage (let’s not talk about statistics though…). School has now lulled down to something manageable. I breezed through this week without major hurdles.
Yesterday was my mom’s birthday so we ended up celebrating at a Cuban restaurant where my parents know the owner. The food was really good. We ended up staying past closing time since my parents and relatives ended up chatting up with the owner about anything and everything. Being a Friday, I was really exhausted by the time we got out of there and full to the point where I didn’t think I would eat the next day (I did…).
For my mom’s birthday, I am finally going to attempt making tiramisu. While my parents are out of town for the night, I’m at home prepping for the task ahead of me. I really do need to get started before it’s too late. I’m making the custard tonight, cooling it until tomorrow morning, and finishing it off tomorrow morning. Custards always make me nervous to make because of the whole clumping. I’ve done it before, and I know how to fix it in case I do mess up, but it’s something that I can’t take lightly.
I don’t think this will go as planned but hey, A for effort right? I guess I’ll update to say how well it went.
1. YOU HAD A CHANCE TO START READING IT TODAY AND YOU DIDN’T! I’M DISAPPOINTED IN YOU!
2. I need more Lush.
