I guess it’s no surprise that I’ve been a lot less active in the book blogging community for the last year. This has partly a lot to do with personal changes, and also a lot to do with a change in my reading habits.
I spent half the year reviewing at PostScript’d, where I’ve written some of my favorite reviews to date. Notably, I love the reviews I’ve written for Easy by Tammara Webber and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.
I’ve started working a new job over the summer which led to a newfound love of audiobooks. I spend approximately 20 hours at a desk job and I get through my day with audiobooks. I’ve probably read a third of the books this year through this format and I absolutely love it. The days where I forget to bring headphones are my least favorite ones at work.
Some of my favorite audiobooks from the year include:
I managed to surpass my reading goal of 100 books this year. I did not manage to read more than last year, but I’m surprised to even have read this much. I couldn’t have done it without the help of audiobooks.
So aside from listening to more audiobooks, I’ve also reduced the number of ARCs that I’ve been reading. I really started to read more books for pleasure – especially because I went through a reading slump when I started my fall semester.
We always have to remind ourselves that reading and blogging should both be fun. And for a while, I did feel wiped out about the constant need to update my blog. I think I’m ready to dive back into book blogging, but I doubt that I’ll ever reach the same level of commitment that I once have. This is a hobby and I want it to be stress-free.
Regardless, I still would love to know what my bookish friends are up to and all the books that you guys are reading. I’m definitely more active on Twitter, so follow me and send me a message so I know to reach out to you!
