A weekly meme on the books on the top of my list to read and books recently acquired, borrowed, or bought. Inspired by the Story Siren’s In My Mailbox.
Top of the Shelf / Currently Reading
What’s next on my to-read list for the upcoming week. I’m still reading Wildefire by Karsten Knight. I hope to finish it by the end of the weekend.

For Review
I accidentally was sent two copies of this one. I will probably post the extra as a giveaway.

From Internship
I don’t get paid. I reimburse myself with free books. Here are just a few of the books I got.

Gifted/Swapped
Super thank you to fabulous best friends Loreal and Caitlin. <3 Loreal got me a signed copy of ANNA!!!
And I swapped with her to get Jane, another big favorite.

What do you do besides reading / reviewing as a hobby?
I’m a true nerd so I love to do some web programming. I code all my themes for WordPress as well as create the banners and other graphic-content on Photoshop. Other than nerdy stuff, I like to explore New York City for culinary delights.
What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?
I generally try to avoid over-hyped paranormal books. I still have not yet read the Twilight series, and I don’t think I ever will. In terms of other over-hyped books, I was very disappointed with Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld because it really did not live up to my expectations, as well as the final book in the Luxe series by Anna Godbersen.
What is your favorite book covers?

SPLENDOR – I absolutely love the gown on this cover… Overall, I love the covers in all the Luxe books because they really put you in the time period. I have a weakness for ballgowns.
ACROSS THE UNIVERSE – This is one of my most anticipated debuts for 2011. I think that the cover is just breath-taking. Pretty colors!
LEVIATHAN – I definitely think that the picture alone does not give it justice. Seeing the actual book in your hand is a lot prettier than seeing a picture of the cover online. Love the embossing on the cover. It really gets the reader into a steampunkery state of mind!
HUSH, HUSH – One of my all-time favorite covers. Gorgeous.
HARRY POTTER – I really can’t pick just one. I love Mary Grand-Pre. Fabulous illustrator. One of the first things I did when I got the newest Potter book was to spread out the cover jacket and try to figure out what the title meant just from the cover jacket’s illustrations. Beautiful work.
In terms of site updates, I really failed to get any reviews posted. I read some galleys this week so I can’t post the reviews up until the publication dates near and that will be in 2011! Wow! A new year coming up already… But its Thanksgiving weekend so we’ll see how many books I can read until Monday!
