Ahoy, there!

Muggle-Born.net is a blog mostly on young adult book reviews. My name is Cialina, and I am a college student living in New York City. I love Harry Potter, coffee, and bookstores.

I am currently accepting review requests from select publishers and authors. I do not accept titles from self-published authors and have no plans to do so in the future. For more on my review policy and rating system, click here.

This is my first time participating in IceyBooks’s Four Weeks of Fame Challenge. When I saw that the current challenge is for Heather Dixon’s Entwined, I couldn’t resist. I still have not read this book, unfortunately, but I was captivated instantly from the cover. Plus, I love fairy tale retellings!

Inspiration: It’s honestly really hard to top the original cover, which is already enchanting. For my cover, I wanted to picture a girl (more like a princess) dancing in a field. I wanted my cover also to be bright and colorful to give it more of a fairy tale-like feel. I also wanted to put a quote from a fellow blogger onto my cover and ended up choosing Yearning to Read‘s.

I’ve seen a lot of Re-Create Cover Contests but never bothered entering until last night. I was itching to do something on Photoshop since I haven’t touched it in a while. I stumbled upon The Sapphire Talisman contest on La Femme Readers and decided to enter.

I personally love how my cover turned out. This was my first time ever recreating a book cover so I was very happy with the results. Originally, I was trying to make the model’s hair from brunette to blonde to portray Julia, the main protagonist, but it turned out to be a lot easier to turn the hair read to represent Alora.

Twice he began to frame a sentence, and twice his voice seemed to fail him. And she thought she understood. What could he possibly say to her now, when he was on the verge of leaving forever? Even something as simple as asking her to write to him carried a distinct sort of promise, the type of promise he was ten years and a half a world removed from being able to make.
