I made this cover for Down the Rabbit Hole’s A Cornucopia of Dystopia contest. I was feeling a little creative this morning so I decided to whip something together. It took a little over an hour and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

My Cover:

I ended up looking through other picture-based YA covers just to get a sense of their composition. I had to alter the picture to make the empty space up top since that seemed to be prevalent in a lot of covers. I was really lucky to have stumbled upon this picture. Thanks to the artist at stock.xchng.

Round 1 of voting begins April 8-15th so keep an eye out for my entry! :)

Wow I think your cover is awesome. It really captures the idea of the book, with the guys in the background watching the girl and the girl looking like she is taking a pill. Great job!

  • Danna says:

I think you should design covers for a living:) This reminds me of the Bitter End cover.

Oh I love it. Why didn’t I see this before? Darn laws of nature any way I love it more than the actual cover I must say. The blurb has more of an impact now that I can actually read it and it goes with the image very well.

  • Fever jumped aside just in time to dodge the shower of urine, and stumbled into the path of a religious procession - celebrants in robes and pointed hats whirling and clapping and chanting the name of some old-world prophet, 'Hari, Hari! Hari Potter!'
