Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?
- Strong female leads
- Fantastic world building that is a little (or a lot) of the ordinary
- Fast-paced plot that will keep you turning the page and at the edge of your seat
- A relatable narrator
Of course, there are always exceptions, but these are just some elements that immediately make me think: I’m going to enjoy this book a lot!
Q: Book Appeal: When you’re browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger’s reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?
It depends on the genre.
If it’s contemporary, right now I am most likely to pick it up if it looks really cute or super sweet. I just want a lot more sweet and fun contemporaries and the ones with eye-catching covers, whether it be at the store or on Goodreads or on a meme, are the ones that currently catch my eye.
If it’s anything else, I know that I usually shy away from anything that gives too much of a paranormal vibe.
If it isn’t something that I’m willing to pick up at the moment (right now it is paranormal and dystopia), then it would have to be a well-written review by a fellow blogger that will convince me, or a raving review from a blogger I already trust.
Q: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.
I am actually not a huge music person. It shocks a lot of people that I can go for long periods of time without listening to any music. But when I do, I listen to: Jack Johnson, Brett Dennen, & Jay Brannan.
My favorite party / dance-in-my-room-when-no-one-is-watching music is Katy Perry.

Q: 2012 Must Reads: Which books are at the top of your list to be read this year (new or old releases)?
I have loads of books I want to read this year. But on top of all the sequels that I will definitely buy on release date, the books at the top of my to-read list are the books I didn’t get to read last year.
Examples:
- Wither by Lauren DeStefano
- Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer
Don’t forget to enter my giveaway celebrating my best friend’s birthday!

Q: When you’ve read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)
If I love a book, I will definitely keep it. Most likely, I will buy multiple copies signed, unsigned, paperback, hardcover, etc. if I really love it. If I just like it, I may or may not keep it depending on other factors like if it’s part of a series that I like a lot as a whole or if it is by one of my favorite authors. If I absolutely hate a book, I have no intention to keep it. I usually either put it up for trade, find someone to give it to, or very rarely put it up for giveaway.
Q: What blog post has gotten the most comments/activity on your blog this year?
Surprisingly, it wasn’t a review. A post I had written right after I watched Deathly Hallows Part II, “Coping with Post-Potter Stress Disorder” got the most comments this year. It also generated a lot of discussion with my readers.
Potter fans for the win!
