Archive for Cover Re-Create
The Maze Runner series is one of my favorite series, so I knew I had to participate for this month’s IceyPick.

I’m keeping it simple during this month’s re-create. I really wanted to find an image with a hedge maze and a boy in it, but no luck. Of course, this made me think of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie stills (Cedric Diggory, anyone?) but I am not one to mix fandoms.
I really really love the covers for this entire series, so I’m not even going to deny the fact that my cover re-create isn’t as awesome as the original.
Happy book birthday to James Dashner and The Death Cure! I am eagerly awaiting the final installment of the Maze Runner series!

My Take: This isn’t the most favorite cover re-create that I’ve done, but I think that it’s alright. My reasoning behind my cover was that I wanted to portray Sydney. I chose this stock (other than the fact that it was the most decent one I found on Deviant Art) also because I thought it portrayed Sydney’s character well. She’s hesitant and definitely thinks things out before she acts. I also wanted to portray the Golden Lily somewhere so I used a dingbat and overlayed it on top of the image.
My cover does strike me as a bit more adult than YA, but that’s just me.
Thanks to ~AmethystDreams1987 for the stock image.
This cover was created for Sandy’s contest. BLOODLINES by Richelle Mead will be published on August 23rd 2011 by Razorbill.
This is my first time participating in IceyBooks’s Four Weeks of Fame Challenge. When I saw that the current challenge is for Heather Dixon’s Entwined, I couldn’t resist. I still have not read this book, unfortunately, but I was captivated instantly from the cover. Plus, I love fairy tale retellings!

Inspiration: It’s honestly really hard to top the original cover, which is already enchanting. For my cover, I wanted to picture a girl (more like a princess) dancing in a field. I wanted my cover also to be bright and colorful to give it more of a fairy tale-like feel. I also wanted to put a quote from a fellow blogger onto my cover and ended up choosing Yearning to Read‘s.
